The Boston Centers for Youth and Families, Massachusetts Youth Soccer, Soccer1, Boston Public Schools and AmericaScores collaborated to bring original youth soccer programming to children ages seven to twelve in the Mayor’s Community Learning Sites. The eight-week program ran from January 15 to March 15, 2010, using soccer to incorporate engaging lessons about s South African culture and geography. Winter Soccer ran at: Orient Heights and Paris Street, East Boston, Jackson Mann, Brighton, Archdale Community Center, Roslindale, Marshall Community Center, and Charlestown High School Community Center. Winter Soccer was such a success that it will continue in upcoming years.
